Over the last couple of decades, we've increasingly become more and more reliant on the internet. Whether that's to earn a living, develop relationships, to shop or find information on just about anything. The worldwide web has become integrated with our very existence.
Unfortunately, the internet has offered sanctuary to those who wish to do us harm in various ways. We all take for granted the laws that govern us and help keep us all safe in the real world, however they are lagging behind and sometimes even non-existent in Cyberspace. This allows illegal actions to be carried out without accountability or any justice being served.
Most recently Mr Danvers has been involved in harrassing women online and subsequently being arrested and released on conditions for his ongoing harassment of other veterans. Mr Richard Danvers was also outted by the WMHCHQ for online abuse of many veterans, almost sending one close to suicide as his harassment and online abuse was relentless. We will be interviewing the victims and will endeavour to update our followers with our findings.
Richard Danvers AKA Danny Dan has also been involved in trying to discredit a former member of the UK Special Forces of whom he was a member of his support staff on some events, however he was sacked for harrassing women and other members of staff. Unfortunately for Mr Danvers it ended up with him being outed and his online harassment tactics portrayed for the world to see online by the work of the WMHCHQ. Danvers served in the TA and those who know him have said although they knew him to be a quite, private kind of bloke, they don't recognise the person he has become.
Online abuse is difficult to measure and this is largely due to there being very little in the way of legislation by government and by the Social Media platform companies. Two forms of abuse which are on the increase are Harassment and Malicious Communications. Usually carried out behind the cloak of fake Social Media Profiles. Reporting these profiles to the respective host platforms is usually a waste of time and is seen as a grey area in criminal law, however these very profiles become a platform for which the abuse takes place. Reporting harassment emanating from fake profiles to the police can also be hit and miss and without evidence of the actual person behind the profile little can be done. There does not seem to be the appetite to combat this growing issue.
Here at Veterans Against Cyber Abuse (VACA) we've seen enough. We will no longer sit on the sideline and watch whilst these online bullies are getting away with destroying people's lives with online hate campaigns designed to destroy a person's reputation and/or livelihood. Using full and unbiased investigations with full due diligence, we will shine a bright light in these dark corners and those who wish to throw stones from glass houses.
We are a small group of British Military Veterans who want to see some real legislation put in place that removes the online capability for those who want to harass and degrade others from fake profiles and online accounts.
